I’m trying to solve an odd issue that is plaguing my Little Phatty Stage II to no avail. One day it will work absolutely fine, the next it’s as if it just doesn’t want to receive MIDI. I use an identical set up day to day (it is sequenced from Cubase C4 and is always on MIDI Channel 1), yet it will work fine on a Monday and when i switch it back on (using the same sequence and everything else set the same) the following day it just doesn’t want to play ball. Then, a day or two later it’s working fine again. It’s just as if the MIDI port goes dead, and the MIDI indicator doesn’t flash when i trigger it.
I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried checking the settings, double checking, checking MIDI cables, checking everything i can check yet i cannot work out what is wrong. Can anyone help at all ? It’s becoming very frustrating !
This is much more likely an issue with Cubase, I’d suggest making sure you’re up to date with the newest version of software for Cubase, and the newest firmware for your MIDI interface. If that still doesn’t fix it, play around more in the MIDI settings and MIDI track settings in Cubase. Make sure you have your audio track set to monitor the incoming audio, and that you have the MIDI track selected/unmuted/monitoring/maybe even set to record. Might wanna try setting MIDI channel to ANY. Ensure the LP’s MIDI settings are set to accept incoming MIDI too. I know you’ve probably gone through and done everything, but try again. MIDI is a pain, and sometimes is not perfectly implemented with DAWs. I have problems with it on 5.5 too, albeit have managed to work around most of the issues now. Trial and error. You’ll find the wrench in the gears soon enough.
