Hello everybody!
I’m new to this board, not to the world of analogue synthesis and moogs. Have been reading along on here for a long time now, had to join now. ![]()
I have some questions about the LIBERATION:
I currently have the rare possibility buy a black Moog Liberation in mint condition for approx. 2800 USD (i live in Europe). This is indeed a hefty price-tag, considering that for the same buck or slightly more i could get myself a used Voyager or a Source AND Juno-60. But while those often appear on ebay/reverb, the Liberation doesn’t, especially not in Europe…
First Question: should i go for it?
I’m unsure if i would be able to resell the thing at such a high price, if i’d ever become bored or annoyed with it. Any opinions? Is this thing worth this high premium and will it hold it’s value? Should I wait until in the unknown future, a more affordable offer comes by?
Second Question:
The owners manual mentions the reference frequency for the lowest key (F) on 32’ to be at 43.65 Hz (look @ attachment). This really is far from sub-bass-territory. A normal bass-guitar goes a half-step lower than that. Is it possible to transpose the whole instrument one octave down by recalibrating the whole thing? Or do i risk damaging/frying something? (I would obviously see a technician for this procedure, i obviously ain’t one.)
My other workaround would be to connect the Liberation to the external in of a Minitaur/Slimphatty (plus Pitch-CV & some workaround for the S-Trigger to Gate), thus generating a Quad-Osc-Hyper-Bass, capable of creating black holes. I still wouldn’t be able to use the Liberation “Standalone” for dat sweet beefiness though…
thanks a lot!
