Moog Halloween Theremin Video Contest - Information

Gordon,
Im really glad to see that you have entered the contest, you already have a collection of brilliant videos.

Friends,

Well, here is my entry. As of right now, it is still processing, and im a bit dissapointed that the youtube compression ruined my score lolololol.
Excuses excuses (thats my story and im sticking to it.)

I just finished listening to all 16 entries (so far…) and they’re all great fun!

Here is Moog’s playlist for your viewing and listening convenience…

Man i love all the old movie references in these videos!

These video submissions are fantastic. I am glad that this is all happening because it is so neat to see a real quick burst of theremin culture on the internet. So few people actually know about the intstument and its history and long after this our videos will be there for posterity to think “What are these people on?” lololol

Eric

Oh, also, thank you for the kind words, EricK. I can take little credit, it was mostly Phil’s doing - I added the video. I don’t think I did the theremin. It’s hard to recall - Sonic Weekends are hectic - someone grabs you and moment’s later you’re recording another track…

I was considering submitting Gently Drowning - reanimated dog heads and dying women are kind of on-topic for Halloween, but it’s a bit more Lynch-y than Halloween-y. :unamused:

I just got an Etherwave standard yesterday :stuck_out_tongue:

But I can’t play it well enough yet, so I won’t be making a video :frowning:

How about next year?

Hopefully they’ll have a similar competition next year! It would be really cool to see this turn into a big annual theremin event!

Congrats on your purchase, surely you can make a video!

Eric

… and since I posted that an email has flooded into my mailbox from my fan, (I didn’t know I had one!) telling me to submit it anyway, and let Moog decide if it is acceptable.

Oh, alright. I submit.

…here’s yet another entry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzSbkyiuOFk

…the higher-quality soundfile is to be found here: http://soundcloud.com/o8o8/sets/halloween-2009

…music by Fabio, with support by Theresa, Matteo, Theodor, Mirela and lyrics by chris…

That was very nice, the music reminded me of Leonard Cohen. Very nice imagery and beautiful music.

Eric

If anyone is interested in hearing the original musical score how it is supposed to sound (without the youtube slaughter compression) please pm me and Ill send you a link.

Eric

…actually: it’s a Halloween-contest…it is supposed to sound horrible :sunglasses:

…go for it!..

AH,
Man you got some VIEWS! lololololol

I don’t know how many forum members actually have theremins. You know, I was really hoping that Theremint posted a video, he has an Ethervox, a Big Briar model U something, I think he still has the RA Moog Melodia, and 2 EW Pros. I would absolutely LOVE to see what he could do with all of those things. I don’t know of anyone else that has more theremins than he.

CF,
Man I really hate tornadoes. My studio is still in disaray, but I shot this video at my grandmothers house as I am her primary caregiver. All her furniture was moved and she was UPSET about it. She saw a fire on her front porch on the video and was like “I wouldn’t do that, I woudn’t do that” lololololl

Thanks guys.

I really have been impressed with all of the submissions so far. I think its is really interesting to see people’s creativity and all the homages to old movies, and the pure enjoyment of being creepy. This is the coolest thing, and I am really glad to have been fortunate enough to have taken part in it. I tell you what, winning doesn’t really matter, I sure have learned a lot this week about making films and learned to watch my clipping when the filter is OPEN rather than just when it is closed lololololol

I used my beloved etherwave standard and a midi piano. My friend Al helped me a lot with the shooting. Hope you enjoy it

Wow!

I don’t see where the voting is yet. Can someone direct me?

winner!

Oh it’s the 3rd!
