In the recent Sweetwater catalog they have the Moog E1 guitar which looks exactly like the Paul Vo edition but without the fancy top - and the price is only $3295! Immediately I searched online to find more information, but there is no mention of it, not even on Sweetwater’s webpage. Maybe Sweetwater accidentally let the cat out of the bag too early.
Here’s the description from the catalog:
“The Moog Guitar Model E1 is poised to redefine your guitar playing forever! This powerful instrument has innovative Moog Guitar electronics for an entirely new musical vocabulary. You’ll experience instant, ethereal sustain at every fret position; flip a switch and the strings instantly mute. Use the footpedal to shift effects between the neck and bridge pickups to pull new harmonics directly from the strings. This edition features an alder body alongside Graphtec piezo saddles and a trem for charting even more undiscovered sonic spaces. The Moog Guitar Model E1 also has chrome hardware and 18:1 tuners” Available in Red, Black, and Trans Butter.
It’s about time Moog came out with a more affordable model. Hopefully it has all the same electronics.
OH JEBUS! that is frickin amazing! still out of my price range right now, but way more affordable. this is exciting.
yeah ive been doing some searching and all i could find was this thread lol. looks like somebody spilled the beans a little to early
EDIT: actually i just went to the moog page to see if they posted any clues…and in the video on the moog guitar section with Julian Lage and Brett Comeaux it looks like they are playing a black moog guitar…hmmm
I wonder if this also has as much circuitry? Like does it have the filters, or as much “Vo Power” as the limited edition has. Guess it is getting close to the Ltd. Editions being sold out. I assume Moog will have a news flash on this new model just as soon as all the Ltd’s are sold.
If you are bored, then here is some entertainment for you:
As a general rule, when I see a product with words like “Collector Edition” on it, I don’t bet on it becoming collectible. Not to say it couldn’t go up in value. But the REAL collectibles are collectible because no one thought to collect them.
I think your guitar will be a nice investment when they run out of the COllectors edition.
I mean come on, just about anything like this with a limited run will be sought after .Give it the several years rule and you will be glad you held on to yours. Especially with that AAAAA quality.
They will be better than any standard edition for sure, though you can probably xpect some depreciation in the short term.
Thanks guys.
By the way I am thrilled with my collectors Vo guitar & have no plans on ever selling it. I was just really curious as to how close the E-1 will be to the collectors edition for so much less in price. When Alberto plays his Vo in his 5 piece band, they are called The Alberto V-O-5 band.
Definetly intriguing…If only they could bring the price to sub 3k then I know they’d be getting to a wide audience. Alot of cats probably wouldn’t even get how to use it though.
I would really hope there would be no loss in functionality, of the Vo Power or the Filter in the guitar, or pickups, although those could always be switched out…
This is bizarre. There’s plenty of information out there on the MIDI MuRF. Isn’t a half-priced (more or less) Moog Guitar A LITTLE more news/buzz-worthy? But three days after NAMM is over, we still seem to be the ONLY ones talking about this, except for a couple of TINY blurbs.
Maybe Google is failing me. Maybe we need MOOGLE! (As if it doesn’t get mispronounced enough already.)
