Moog gear and CV/Gate question

Hi all,

I am relatively new to modular gear (owning) I have some 80’s bits of kit with CV/Gate ins & outs that I have had fun with for years, though never really had anything to serous. I am fortunate enough to finally own some semi modular gear, A Voyager XL and slowly building a Moogerfooger collection.

I am just wondering in most cases can audio be used as a CV signal? I know some of the MF’s have env in which can have an an external audio sauce used as the CV mod.

Though can I run drum beats or what ever into some CV inputs say on my XL? or is the signal to hot?

I am enjoying the experimental side of this wonderful modular world, though I just want to know where to draw the line, as I would hate to fry something! trust me convincing my wife to allow me to buy the XL in the first place was… well, I leave that up to your imagination

Cheers

As long as you stay under 5VDC peak you should be safe

As for audio as a CV, it will be a modulation that may or may not sound like much. The question is will the circuitry respond to audio domain modulation as you approach 20K? Not all circuits can.

Cheers MC
