So I had a patch I was trying to save, and I did the usual routine.
Press Save
Compare to find an open slot (usually the next)
Rename it
Hold Save
The problem is that when I continue playing, picking back up where i left, the sound is completely different… Its like the envelopes were lost and its just this long drawn out pad/texture and at a lower octave. I mean I can see how the new song is relatable, but its completely different, which lead me to believe something error or corruption is happening. This happened twice today within a short time frame.
rumblenaut, know what you mean although it could be your step 2) where things go awry
btw use the Sub 37 Librarian - it is better at organising and renaming presets etc
This goes on a bit… but I have found that the best approach is
use temporary scratch pad slots for experiments - I use lucky Bank 13
if you’re modifying an existing preset, save it first to a Bank 13 slot, then stay in that Bank 13 slot
OR if you’re Randomizing in the Librarian or even just messing around, be and stay in a Bank 13 slot first
have your wicked way with the preset and save often to that SAME Bank 13 slot as you sculpt the preset
finally rename it/save it to that SAME Bank 13 slot
now just re-save it to another slot where you actually want it to be, say Bank 12, preset slot 1
then use the Librarian to save it to hard disk - now you have a backup
load a few other presets, then go back to Bank 12, preset slot 1, check that it is still the same preset
This way you have more than one copy, in case something goes wrong.
If you’re still getting errors or corruption then there may be a gremlin.
