Moog Accessory Manual

Scanned this for anyone interested in the 1974 Moog Accessory Manual. Mostly just written for the Minimoog and Sonic-6, no mention of the modulars or the Satellite. But still an interesting read. Don’t think I have seen this before on the web? Probably the best description of the 1125 Sample-Hold functions.

Interesting documentation, thanks. I guess that foot switch has a (non-standard) 0.206" diameter male connector at the end ? I never understood why ? Probably to have only Moog footswitch be compatible…

I also never understood why OSC 1 and 2 have a (pretty useless) LO setting… But that’s another story.

Those special jacks were probably to idiot proof the systems so control voltages were not sent into the decay or glide circutry. I believe the Opus 3 also has that size jack for a sustain pedal.

The first Mini prototype model A and B had 901 oscillators from the modular grafted into them that included the LO setting, before they redesigned the Mini oscillators for the C and D. Guess they never thought to remove the LO setting from osc 1 and 2. There were original sound charts that used these LO settings for a snare drum, but the LO settings were more usefull for modulating another CV input. That was a Mini mystery to me too! They got the oscillator 3 settings right though, with the added reverse sawtooth and making the range sweep many octaves when disconnected from the keyboard CV.

Oh yes! And I’m always amazed at how good my Minimoog sounds. My father still has a 1975 color TV he keeps as a collectable (same year as my Mini) and even though it’s transistorized, it doesn’t look or sound as good as the day it was made, contrary to my Mini… Which is a testament to the great design, and the use of quality parts chosen by Bob and his team.

As for the foot switch, you’re right, that is logical. But since I don’t have access to such a connector, I’ll replace one with regular female 1/4" plugs so I can use a foot switch at least for the glide. I’ve got that with my Korg Mono/Poly and it’s pretty useful for two hands synth solos for turning on and off the glide hands-free… Unless I can find an original Moog foot switch to go with my Mini ? But I suppose it would cost $200+ on eBay, having the name Moog and being specifically for early Moog synths ? :unamused:
