Modular clone shielding

Hi. I’m building an home-made Modular Clone.
My problem is quite simple: do I have to shield the interior of the wooden cabinet with for example alluminum tape or something similar (Faraday Cage) or is it possible to leave the circuitry alone in the wooden cab?

Here http://synthesizers.com/diycabinet.html there isn’t any shielding procedure. But a friend of mine, an Electronic engineer, told me that I have to shield the whole cab and wire the ground to the metal shielding.

I wait for some help. Thanks!

No. The AC ground is grounded to the aluminum chassis of the power supply. Who is this engineer? That has to be the most recockulous thing I’ve ever heard. :unamused:

Shielding probably won’t hurt, but it might not help much in any discernible way either.
Most circuits are not sensitive enough to pick up radio waves, light dimmer buzzing or magnetic signals.
The circuits that can are usually high gain circuits such as preamps or reverb tank amplifiers.
There are exceptions, of course.
If you live next to an AM radio transmitting antenna, you might consider it.
Otherwise, concern yourself more with module placement.
For example, locating sensitive modules away from the power supply

Thanks.. In fact I knew that shielding problems are concerned to high gain applications.
About the positioning of the PSU I’m going to put it behind the first panels that are AC input, multiples and a midi-to-cv.

Thanks Voltor and Kevin!

When it’s all finished I’ll post something on the forum
