Anyone know how to get the glide on Prodigy to have longer time range ? Is there a mod to do this ? I would like to be able to have longer slides, anyone else ?
Easy mod. Replace the glide cap with one that is double or more its value. I can’t tell you which one as I do not have a schematic, but this would take fifteen minutes for any tech to do.
Make sure you use a polyester cap or cap with good leakage/dc characteristics. The factory production cap is a 1.0uF polyester. Don’t use an electrolytic or tantalum as it will likely cause your pitch to drift after key release as that cap is also the S/H cap for the keyboard CV. I would suggest adding another cap in parallel with the existing one if you have trouble finding good caps > 1.0uF. Careful! don’t make it too big or you will have glide all the time due to the on resistance of the S/H FET in the keyboard circuit (not sure what it is offhand).

That would be C25 for reference.
i have a mod like this on my mg-1. got a little switch to toggle between ‘stock’ glide and ‘extra long’ glide. put one on the mod rate too. 3-way slow, stock, fast. the fast sounds awesome when the slider is up all the way too. sort of like a ring mod effect.
I never understood why people want so much glide…I feel like most of my synths have way more glide then i would ever want anyways…then they don’t have enough fine adjustment in the range that I like…
I guess that’s why they put the long glide in the first place…for people like you guys who probably enjoy making different kinds of music…
that’s cool…
