MMV and flat-top Rhodes

Does anyone here put their Voyager on top of a Rhodes with a flat-top? I ask because I put I am putting mine on top of my round-top mkI. It sits OK, but I’m a bit afraid if there was an earthquake or something it might rattle off. How stable is the MMV on a flat-top, if anyone knows. Thanks.

Hi,
I do. I have a MK1 73key w/ a round top, so does my buddy and I put my moog wherever it wants to go! And it goes well on top of the Rhodes! Especially facing the opposite direction so you can have 2 people on keys at the same time! good clean fun!

Hi, thanks for the response, but meant if anyone out there puts their Voyager on a FLAT-top Rhodes. I have a round-top Rhodes, too, but it is not as stable as I would like. Sorry, for any confusion.

I have a Mark 1 Suit Case Rhodes with an Arp Odessey on top of it. It’s GOT to be a lot heavier than a Voyager. I bought the Flat Top for my Rhodes when the Mark II came out and they started putting the Flat Top’s on them. It’s MUCH more stable and I think it puts your synth in a better position to be played. Go for it.

you both must have balls the size of Antarctica because the last place I would ever put my $3000 voyager is atop my round top rhodes. I am so anl I purchased the most stable stand I could find and then got a thick piece of wood to sit between the moog and the stand. Better safe then sorry in my opinion.

Well, I don’t think it would fall in any sort of normal studio situation. My clavinet has sat on top of it for years without a problem. I think I’m just being paranoid.

Oh yeah, they ARE huge.

i have my voyager on my flat top rhodes, it fits perfectly . the little rubber feet on the moog comes just outside top

i’ve put mine on a flat-top mk2 as well… no problems. only thing I’d suggest is to excercise some common sense when playing the instrument in such a semi-precarious position. Like don’t get too emotional on the XYZ pad or something

It sits mostly on my double-braced on-stage keybd stand. Awesome, been for years.

Here’s what I did years ago with my Mini and rounded top rhodes. I got a piece of wood, 1" X 2" and made it the length of the Minimoog. I painted it black and placed it on the back part of the rhodes case by the hinges. It supported the back part of the mini very nicely and there was no more vibrating or wobbling. TZ

like you I was concerned with putting my Moog on top of my round top so I just bought a 3 tiered stand so no worries now.
