Hi there, everyone. I just received my Electric Blue. I want to run it with various effects of mine, but I am still unsure as to what kind of Insert cable is needed. I’ve looked at what has been discussed on this forum, but I am still a little confused because I have read a host of different answers pertaining to this inquiry.
First of all, can I purchase a high quality insert cable that is long enough to provide room for a long line of effects? That is, can I run an effects chain or am I limited to 1 device only using the Mix out/Filter in? What kind of connections do I need exactly? TRS >>>> 2 TS??
I am also looking for quality colored patch cables to use with the Foogers and the expander etc.
Can anyone tell me exactly what I need? Type, style, or maybe even a link to the exact product?
Thanks to everyone for reading this.
Hopefully someone with a lot of experience can lend a helping hand. Ai!
Thanks!
Michael
Many of the Squarewave files (an old yahoo user group) have been transfered there. You’ll have to become a member to sign up. I don’t think it’s free anymore…
Thank you very much for the response along with that link. It says that you route the signal back into the external in jack. Is this in fact correct? I thought the recommended fashion was to use an insert cable whose one TS end would go into the in of the effect, while the other TS end on the Y insert cable would plug into the effects out.
Is there anyone who uses an insert cable in this way?
I guess what I’m looking for here is someone’s advice on the best way to process the voyager using effects such as pedal units (Foogers or not).
Does anyone have any tips or tricks? What kind of insert cables/patch cables do you use for routing effects and using the CV expander?
Thanks again! Anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated!
Michael
Actually, you might find this article, called “Kicking it up a Notch” to be more helpful processing the Voyager with effects pedals in the Mixer Out loop:
Basically, you can use a standard insert cable to go between the Mixer Out and Filter In to place your devices in the loop (traditional hookup), or you can get a bit more exotic and use a custom cable as described in the article to incorporate the External In jack
Many stomboxes work well in this application, among them: chorus, phaser, flanger, overdrive, distortion, and wah-wah, as well as graphic/parametric EQ and filter devices like the Sherman FilterBank. Time-based devices, like delays and reverb, work less well in the loop, but can be used for interesting gated effects.
Have fun!
