Hi Gang,
I was lucky enough to get to play with a prototype Minitaur last year
and can say with certainty that there were about 21 unique CC#s that
covered pretty much everything on the front panel as well as some
cool internal parameters. So you won’t have to mess with SysEx to
send a preset via MIDI.
More importantly, it was stupid easy to program in real time as the
layout of the knobs and buttons was completely intuitive.
And MOST importantly, it was crazy fat. While making the video, I
couldn’t get over the fact that THIS SOUND was coming from
something I could hold in the palm of my hand.
Great news on the cc’s, however my point on hoping for SysEx support will allow for a quick (instant) push of a ‘preset’ via many free software packages (SysEx librarian). Ala Phatty patches which are 373 bytes in length and can be blasted into my Phatty with a simple double click.
Both bits of functionality are important.
One other quick question: I notice that the stated dimensions are precisely 3ru high but not quite wide enough to be mated with a CP / VX sized module. Any rack mount options that you may be aware of?
I’m really hoping that Moog had the foresight to have the jacks and specifically the midi port mounted ‘deep’ enough so that this can possibly be mounted beneath a Fooger or CP / VX rack mount.
I have gear (like Fooger rack mount itself and like the Korg Radias) that did not take this into account!
At only 8.5" x 5.25" and less than 3 lbs, the Minitaur
puts powerful analog Moog bass into a package
designed to fit seamlessly into today’s performance
and production environments.
