I am hoping someone has has some luck with this. I have not been able to get my Akai MPK to control the Minitaur.
I have a midi going from the MPK, to the Midi in of the minitaur and nothing is happening. I know the Minitaur works as I can make sounds using my microkorg as a controller. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
I had a MPK25 but its long gone now but check to see if you are sending output through the correct port (whichever DIN port assumed).
Also check the channel and keep an eye on the minitaur midi activity light. Would also be good to setup your MPK to send clock f all else fails (clock messages are channel independent). Minitaur has settings to ignore certain messages from illuminating the midi led so, important that you have all of these setting set appropriately for troubleshooting purposes.
I had an MPK 49, now gone. Worked well with just about everything. No problem using the new Akai Max 49 and Minitaur, whether on midi or CVs.
Chanel comes to mind, try different presets on the MPK.
EMwhite, did you ever manage to get the MPK25 to send a midi clock out when you had it? I’m having issues with trying to get it to send my Minitaur’s LFO a midi clock. ![]()

I found the problem. I was powering the MPK wiht the usb which defaults that port to midi. I have to power it by AC, then the midi out drives the minitaur.
Ahh yes, my MPK25 came with no AC power adapter, so I remember trying to get it to work with the Minitaur for ages (by powering it via a USB wall adapter) before noticing some small print in the manual mentioning that controlling hardware requires forking out for an adapter. ![]()
Akai should really include the adapter in the package, or at least have more clear indications of what is needed for each type of set up (Software/DAW or Hardware).
I’m glad you fixed your problem anyway - sorry I didn’t click about my adapter experience with the MPK earlier.
