Minimoog Model D New Owner

Hi everyone…this is my first post on this forum…but I think I qualify now to …I just got a Minimoog Model D here in Australia. I also have a select series Voyager but its been a life long dream of mine to own a Model D. I don’t think there’s a lot of them here downunder so I was lucky to get this one.It was a one owner and it is in great condition…only problem was the previous owner did’nt turn it on for 10 years…so it was’nt too good when I first heard it…and not knowing too much about the electronics side of it I was’nt too sure whether to buy it…mind you its pretty hard to walk away from any moog thats for sale.
It had a few problems with the buss bars and oscillator 3 not working correctly to creat modulation, but I seem to have that under control now thanks to the posts on here…what a great place this is to share knowledge about a wonderful instrument…thank-you to everyone sharing their problems and how to fix them.I would still be wondering how to fix it without your help.
The Model D had its build and inspection tag inside and was made on the 8th of August 1973.
From what I hear so far it’s sound is simular to the Voyager but more creamier or is the more moogy?? Thats not to say that the Voyager does’nt sound good,…just a bit different. They both are great synths in their own right. Cheers from downunder…regards Chris
