Minimoog Model D - CV

The Minimoog Model D has the Voltage Control?

If yes, where?

Thanks!

√.

It has no output CV.
It has has CV input for VCOs, VCF and a VCA.

Note: the VCO input only ADDS to the CV of the keyboard.
The keyboard will transpose any incoming CV and any incoming CV will transpose the keyboard.
The VCO cv input will NOT go through the glide circuit either.

If you plan on using CV and Gate inputs to a model D, you can:

  1. Replace the keyboard with a special cable. I sell these or have someone make one.
  2. Have the machine modded, either adding jacks or reusing existing ones.

If you plan on using the CV FROM the Minimoog, you must have the machine modded.
There are no CV outputs available on a stock machine.

Hope this helps.

so how do you get the mini to sequence correctly? I am using the voyager VX pitch out to mini VCO in, and it is not tracking right.

They’re not tracking because the scaling of your mini needs to be adjusted to match the voyager. Once you do that, the mini keyboard may not track right anymore. Pick your poison.

Or it would be a lot easier to get a MIDI retrofit for the mini, Kevin has one in the works.

Could I just disconnect the keyboard and sequence/control the mini from my voyager without scaling problems? The mini has to have some kind of reference point for scaling, right? Like 440?

Sort of.

You will still have to scale the VCOs on the back panel of the model D and you won’t get any Mini glide function nor operational keyboard tracking (orange) switches on the VCF, but it should work.

Fwiw, I sell a cable that plugs into the keyboard connector (the keyboard is unplugged) that allows CV and Gate in and does pass thru the glide circuit and goes to the orange filter tracking switches.
It also eliminates the need for a S-trig to V-trig converter and allows one to directly plug the Mini into any MIDI to CV converter featuring 1/8" plugs (Kenton, MPU-101, etc.)
But no matter what way you do it, you will likely still have to scale your Mini D VCOs to match the incoming CV.
(it’s not that hard once you get a hang of it.)
