Mini D reverse envelopes

Hi all,

A while ago I received in a Minimoog D for service containing an env board with an added opamp IC intended for some sort of mod.
Instead of removing that mod, I replaced the entire board.
(at the time, I had extra boards.)

Later I had the thought that I should do something with this board and changed the old mod into a voltage inverter for the filter env.
That is, make the board also produce reverse filter envelopes.

My “mod of their mod” was successful and I tried it out in a real Mini and it worked well.
Cool too, because I had never played a Mini with a reverse filter envelope.
It made sounds that no stock Mini could produce.
For example, an upward filter sweep as the note dies away.

I still have this board and would like to sell it. I’m asking $140 USD.

The only modification necessary to a Mini is to cut one stock wire (on the env depth pot), push in a newly crimped connector wire (supplied) into the board’s edge connector and solder the other end to where the wire just cut used to go.
One cut, one push and one solder connection.
I used an unused location on the edge card connector for this new wire, so this board can even be removed with no soldering or dangling wire.

The filter envelope depth control would then be center off, positive envelopes clockwise, negative envs counter-clockwise.

The entire installation should only take about 10-15 minutes and is easy to put back to stock.
(just remove the new wire and solder the original wire back on the pot.)
One could probably even sell their original env board for the same price.

Anyone want it?

Wow…that’s really cool! :open_mouth:

But it, Voltor and add it to your Mini Envelopes!

Nah. Let someone with a Minimoog get it.

I could mod Voltor’s envs.
But I already provided a reversible attenuator and that can do the same thing.

I believe that was why I wanted the reversible attenuator. So that I could invert the envelopes. Of course, it can invert a bunch of other things as well, like waveforms or whatnot. :sunglasses:

Yeah I totally forgot about those attenuators.

What EricK needs is a reversible inverter

 Just plug the inverter into a reversible attenuator, and there ya go!

Only if it had -/+ outputs.

What are these attenuators?

You know, THOSE attenuators that reverse voltages and attenuate signals.

Heh, Those meaning the ones on Voltors custom module, not attens in general.

I guess I need to complete a thought for others to know what I’m talking about.
