I was originally going to use a Phatty. It had more to do with the fact that the G2M only plays one note at a time.
Thus, I could only hold one note for the arpeggiator which, on a Phatty, would produce patterns with only unison
or octaves of the note I held. The synth I used had lots of musical riff arpeggiations that play based on pressing a
single note. For the purpose of a fast demonstration it seemed to be the right tool for the job.
But I strongly encourage anyone with a Moog synth and $99 to try the G2M. It is so much fun to sing, or play a
horn, or your guitar into your synth. It’s an endless “fresh idea” generator.
i read some mixed reviews on the net about this promissing product.
wonder:
does it work with midinotes, and or pitchbend info.
will it track well over all 4 octaves or more
is the latency acceptable
will it make audible steps from note to note and does it make a new noteon/off every time it takes an new note number .
these things i didn’t find in the net so far.
i think the price is right, also wonder if there are other possibilities to midify the theremine.
( by the way i’m absolute new in theremine land having recently bought serial 111 of the signature theremine )
Does it work with MIDI Notes, and or Pitch Bend info?
Yes, it transmits both.
Will it track well over all 4 octaves or more?
I only had it during the video so I can’t be scientific, but it
certainly covered the range of the guitar.
Is the latency acceptable?
The latency was as good or better than anything else I’ve
ever tried. It’s certainly faster than anything you’d feel while
playing the Theremin. Listen to the acoustic sound of the guitar
vs. the synth note and you’ll hear how tight it is.
Will it make audible steps from note to note and does it make
a new Note On/Off every time it takes a new note number?
Listen to the video when I do an even upward sweep on the
theremin. You can hear when new Note Ons are sent.
I wonder if there are other possibilities to MIDIfy the theremin.
If a theremin has CV Outs you can always use a CV->MIDI
converter (like the powerfully versatile MP-201), but that’s a
much more serious investment.
The best way to approach this is to take advantage of everything
it does well and let it inspire you. For $99 it won’t do everything
you’ve ever dreamed of. Almost nothing ever does exactly what
you want. But it will do awesome things and make your audience
wonder at the results.
Even if you buy a more elaborate solution later on, you’ll always
find additional uses for this. (Singing to create Little Phatty notes
is a gas!)
thanks already for the info.
i’m sure the cv/midi kit would be great , just wondered how he behaves and where to meat it’s limits.
just to give me an idea before buying.
i love peterson stuff, great quality
having said that:
on the you tube video it was not clear to me what happens when the sweep is performed. when does he make a new tone and when does it keep to pitchbendinfo. is the first 200cents pitchbend and the rest new note , or is it dependen on the volume difference ?
( there seems to be the possibility to sweep/pitchbend over large range , as the guitar shows going all the way down, while also running up and down the different stepped notes as shows the theremine from 4.00 onwards, have you made a preset for those options or does he differentiate by itself ?? )
could be nice if some more light is shed on that , although 100euro isn’t to much money, it would be a pity to buy and sell dissappointed
