midi sync - syncing lfo to Protools

hey all,

just wondering how to sync the lfo to the click track in my protools session. This seems fairly easy with plugins. Tried the midi option under LFO, but that didn’t really seem to do anything…

Thanks in advance!

brian

the LFo of the Voyager uses the midi sync not in the way as other, mainly digital, synths:
the sync is here meant as the sync as syncing to oscilators.
The Midi clock resets the current LFO waveshape to its starting point.
This is not changing the LFO frequency at all. It is just a feature to restart the waveshape at a certain rhythm.

All other synths I know of use midi clock to sync the frequency of the LFO to the midi clock.

I think you were trying to sync the frequency of the LFO to the Midi clock. This is not possible on the Voyager.
But by setting the LFO slightly slower then the needed frequency and using the sync to sync the waveshape to the song beat will work. But only until you change the songs bpm.

I am confused here
I have a Voyager/351 combo that I want to use to drive a Modcan modular. The Modcan has an analog step sequencer. I would like to be able to have that sync to MIDI.

I was under the impression that if I sent midi clock to the Voyager, set the LFO low enough that the reset from the MIDI clock would restart it, put it on Square wave, obviously on MIDI sync, and used the LFO out of the 351, I could get a MIDI clock out.

Till, are you saying I have misread this? If so, do you have any suggestions? I hate to have to get a midi/cv specifically to sync to midi clock.

Thanks

Chauncey,
this will not work if you set the LFO too slow. The waveform will be the same when retriggered as the one just before retriggering. This would need a very narrow pulsewave.

But the question wasn’t about syncing an anlogue sequencer but the LFO as modulation source. Not as a trigger.
