Midi sequencer to Voyager filters

hi,
I whana know how to program a midi sequencer, to squence the voyager filter.
And if its is possible to do it whit the Dave Smith Tetra sequencer moving the Voyager parametres
Thanx

First thing to do is check your sequencer’s manual to see if it supports it (or purchase a unit that does). My little EA-1 mkII does it. It works like this : after recording the pitches (notes) for the sequence, you start the “event recording” feature and the sequencer will record knob movements during the sequence. I have not actually used that feature and I assume the sequencer would send along the controller CC’s through midi, along with the notes, but i have not verified that, so there’s a possibility that they remain an inside the box job.

There’s a technique that I use on my synth-guitar set-up that it doing similar of what you ask. You need a midi-to-CV unit for that. Midi is fed in from the sequencer to the midi-CV unit and the pitch CV out is fed in the red filter jack of the Voyager. You could even ‘play’ the filter with a midi keyboard. Five octaves worth of keys (from the starting note) translate into a 0-5 volts CV.

Finally, if the Tetr4 is like the Mopho (and the Tetr4 spec sheet talks about a gated sequencer), it will not send its sequences to MIDI (audio output only). So sequencing anything external with the Mopho is ruled out right from the start (as it probably is the case too for the Tetr4).
