I have used the murf in two situations…one using Ableton Live, the other with Elektron MD…both situations I am having problems with the initial rate sync…once I tweak the rate I am able to keep the sync constant…problem always arises when I restart any sequence..the beat is off until I again tweak…orange light is on…where might the problem lie? In the midi clocks? (they are set to send clock out) Is there some midi message being sent I am unaware of? Then to throw another wrench in the works at a recent gig I couldn’t even get a sound out of the ped at all…all inputs/outputs were checked and rechecked…gave up and played the show without it, took the pedal home and it worked fine? Does this all sound like a service issue…(It’s only 2 weeks old!) Despite all the problems I really REALLY love the pedal …any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks, jeff
Now I have inserted (halfway per manual instruction) a drum sequence signal in the rate/step input…great works..until…I change the pattern…then it stops…until I take out the signal and reinsert…my question regarding all these issues, and the above issues is this normal? Is it the quirks of the pedal? Please anyone? Thanks again
Jeff
Depends on what firmware you are running. I have not updated mine to the latest yet (don’t need any of the new functionality so didn’t want to make any changes).
Have a look at the .pdf for the new version to see if any of the text describes the behavior you are seeing. I’m not sure if the MurFs are now shipping with the new code or what you just purchased (may have been sitting in inventory at a distributor or a retailer since last year which was prior to release of the newest code).
On my MurF, incoming Clock after a ‘start’ begins the yellow flashing, if I change patterns, the rate continues along. I know of no situation where the clock will stop but there are new features that will allow the clock in the MurF to continue on even after Midi clock has ceased.
My drum source is a JoMoX XBase09 but that shouldn’t matter.
Is there a way to check which firmware I have? I t came shipped with the add on to the manual so I am assuming the new firmware was installed…but perhaps there is an obvious way to check…
