MIDI MuRF dont respond to MIDI

Just got my first Moogerfooger. After some hours of having fun with my MIDI MuRF I decided it was time to hook it up to my DAW (Cubase 5).
But i just cant seem to get it to repond to MIDI of any kind. Just to be sure i set the MuRFs MIDI channel, as per the manual, to channel 1. Made sure i sent MIDI clock to the right MIDI port. But when i hit play, the rate light is still blinking red and not in sync. I then tried to send various MIDI CC messages, but nothing seems to touch thr MuRF… Even tried to connect connect my keyboard straight to the MuRF to see if the modwheel (CC1) would affect the envelope but still nothing…

Anyone out there that has come across this, of have any suggestion what could be done to solve this problem?

Try using a keyboard with the channel set to omni just to rule out a channel issue. If it still does not work. I’d contact moog support.

Yes, I tried that too. Even tried to send MIDI on all 16 channels separately, but nothing. Then I went on to try to use the VST plugin, and the standalone pattern editor, but no contact with any of them either…
I did as you suggested and sent a mail to Moog support. Lets see what they have to say about it.

Have you tried powering up the MuRF with the MIDI disconnected, and then connecting MIDI?

Don’t let me stop you from calling tech support but I can tell you (as you) that they updated the firmware to act differently with Clock start/stop, etc. So now I’m asking, did you just buy this or did you buy it 2nd hand or has it been hanging around your place for a while and used to work?

And to be clear, if the code is looking for clock start, your DAW might not be sending it. Oh and then there is the bit where you need to apply power with certain buttons engaged in order for it to read the ‘channel’.

One of the joys/curses with Foogers, they are short on LCD displays and all sorts of power up self tests, etc. But you’ll work it out.

Let us know how it went, these problems pop up from time to time.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I have tried them all, but to no help, and it seems like the only thing to do is to return it to the the dealer and Moog. I talked to Moog tech support and they were very helpful, but there is only so much they can do without actually having the unit there. I guess i have to hope for better luck with the next one… or I might get a Minotaur instead :stuck_out_tongue:
