Can anyone reccomend a cheap but quality interface so that I can send/receive presets to and from the Voyager?
Eric
I’ll tell you what…I just went to Sam Ash yesterday and bought an M-Audio Uno 1x1, and it works great! It comes with the driver on a CD-ROM, you put the disc in and load the driver! And, it works on Win XP and Mac OS X. 43 bucks after tax ![]()
Emagic MT4. Working fine here. And it is easy to get at eBay. Of cause there are Mac and Win drivers available.
+1 on the Uno. I was having problems updating the LP OS using my existing interface, and several people suggested trying the Uno instead. It worked perfectly, and it’s now my main choice when all I need is 1x1. I’m sure other things would work as well, but the Uno is cheap, tiny, stylish (for now, anyway), and easy to find.
This might not even be relevant:
How many MIDI Channels does the Voyager send/receive on?
THe M-Audio thing im looking at has 16 channels…I just want to be sure this is enough.
As you guys can tell I don’t really know a lot about the computer recording thing, I do all of mine on an obsolete console lol.
Eric
if you are doing any recording, most sound cards have some sort of midi going on…My motu 8pre, mostly just 8 preamps + USB works great when I want my computer to talk to my synths..
Just one channel, Eric. It is monophonic after all. The kind folks in the software department have allowed you to change both the input and output channels independently, which could be useful from a cascading controller perspective. And to boot, you can configure a polyphonic mode which will only play the _n_th MIDI note received. So those of us with multiple RMEs
or the new rack-mount polyexpanders can have a polyphonic Voyager.
You could use the MP-201 as a 1x1 interface also.
THanks for the inputs.
I ended up settling for an Edirol at the local music store, I haven’t tried it yet but if if doesn’t work Ill respond with a post.
Eric
Good decision - I’m using an Edirol UM-2 and it works perfectly.
Have fun,
Rudi
Actually I got the Midiox and it just took me awhile to figure out how to turn the output ports on but it worked with no problems at all.
