Well, I was trying to record my Micromoog, line in into a mixer, and then mixer into a laptop, with Garageband. I noticed that when I hit a key, there was a thin staticy click that occured right at the attack of the sound, along with the sound that the synth made. I can’t seem to make it go away. It just lasts for a second or so, and then fades off and the synth sound continues. If I turn the volume off, it goes away, but if I just turn the cuttoff to the point where there is no sound coming out, I can here it.
It sounds like the opening and closing of a gate to my ears.
Have you listened to it through your mixer? If it also occures when you listen to the output signal of your mixer it is likely to be the behaviour of the Micromoog.
If not, check the Audio/MIDI Setup in the Utilities folder which you can find in your Applications folder. Set the input and output to 96kHz/24 bit for optimal recording results.
Acorkos,
It doesn’t have sustain/Decay, its a “Contour generator” not an envelope generator lol.
Blackie,
I couldn’t hear the file cause my computer won’t play files from that site.
On my Micro though, I think its the High output, when I turn the volume CCW past 12, I start getting a constant fuzz that sounds just like the white noise generator was left on.
So whether or not Im using hi or low audio output, I always max the volume out when I record and adjust the levels on my recording mixer to accomodate.
HOpe you can get that fixed cause the Micro is a great synth.
Man thats a great steal there. Even if you have to send it to get some work done to it. I have seen a progidy just recently with the starting bid at 1000. People are seriously getting raped online at auctions for moog synths. THe Micro is a great synth that has a feature or two I wish the Voyager had (auto/S&H)
Yeah, mine is is top-notch condition, with all switch covers, knobs, and everything. One problem is that the filter mode switch is weird, because the tone part doesn’t trigger right, you have to push the switch down sometimes. Other than that, it’s great.
Mine does the same thing, it will detune the whole keyboard sometimes. It is a little crackly and you just have to mess with it and it will fix itself right up.
Does yours have the Attenuator on the back?
Jiggle it a little it’ll open.
Mine is a williamsville 569X. You really have to post some pics of yours.
Im not sure exactly when they entered into production, but in additrion to the fine tune knob, mine has an attenuator built to the keyboard output to facillitate better control over other gear in the open system.
For example, it states in the manual that you can use this atenuator with a 921 series Osc to create quartertones.
Mine is a later model Micro with the serial number close to 7000. From Norlin Music, williamsville NY.
I think my father got it as a gift in the early 80’s…probably when everyone was dumping their analogue gear.
