Hello forum people, hope everyones good out there…
Any good advice will be greatly appreciated & info on anyone running a midi micromoog setup!!
Thankyou for your time in advance
Over past few months i have been researching and looking at suitable cv/gate midi converters to control my micromoog.
I have found quite a few different types and options (both mass produced & diy kits etc).
In my research of the mcromoog it has been noted that the cv/gate has a fault rendering it requiring 0.99v to operate properly (instead of the standard 1v per octave), as such these are my questions…
will the micromoog still operate receiving a 1v signal?
will the pitch be affected or will it fall inline with the cv device?
These are the current devices i am considering buying for reference (due to having low funding at present) -
You should use a MIDI to CV interface that features a way of handling this. Many interfaces are able to adjust their output to match the synth.
This little less than 1 V/oct was done by intention on many Moogs, as it is not easy to boost voltage, but easy to reduce it. In fact, a single resistor will do the job.
Thank you for the helpful thread!
In my studio, I have a Micromoog, a Rogue and a Slim Phatty. So far, I wasn’t able to get them playing in sync using cv/gate (and an Arturia beatstep). I understand, the Rogue and Micro have different standards and the Phatty doesn’t send cv gate. So - is the only way via Midi and dedicated CV/Gate interfaces for the two vintage Moogs?
Thank you,
Martin
