MG-1 noisy after hibernation

I just pulled my MG-1 out of hibernation (3 years?) and it is quite noisy compared to before, just a constant hum from the output. I did modify it with 1/4" output, eliminating the PC board with the RCA jacks completely, is there something with that I, a complete novice, could have screwed up beyond the obvious? I looked in the service manual and it mentions bad connections at power supply capacitors and failed diodes or regulators, can anyone provide insight as to how one tests any of this stuff? Its in beautiful condition and I really want to get this back useable, but sadly I cannot afford to have it worked on by a professional, nor do I know of anyone near me qualified to work on it.

Any tips or resources are greatly appreciated, I am fully willing to take electronics courses to learn to work on this thing myself if necessary. Thanks!

Hello VincentBrick, and welcome on the Moog forum.

Is the hum present also on the headphones output in headphones ? If not, maybe you should check your output jack for a bad ground connection.
If yes, then there is probably something wrong with the internal cabling, or lastly in the power supply…
But one step at a time.

Alain.
