just picked up a Tecbug sequencer
so, what do i plug where?
seq gate to 107 wave? seq cv to 107 freq?
heres a video with a MFB urzwerg, and that is the connection this person uses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF51afk2Oys
i did this, but nothing. only time i get anything,
is when i plug seq gate to 107 audio in.
and then i obviously just get a bunch of spikes.
The simplest configuration is seq cv out to freqbox FREQ in. Then OSC OUT on the Freqbox to whatever is next - filter, etc. There is nothing coming out the AUDIO OUT because there is nothing going to AUDIO IN. Note that the OSC OUT is an EXTREMELY hot signal. In this config I think ENV and FM amount knobs won’t do anything.
You can also run the OSC OUT directly into the AUDIO IN, and seq cv out to FREQ input as above. This way you can use ENV and FM.
Unless you have an EG or LFO, the seq gate won’t do anything. The Freqbox has nothing that can be gated. In the Urzwerg video you linked, the Freqbox oscillator is free running - no envelope shape to gate.
I don’t have a freqbox, but couldn’t you plug the gate out from the sequence into the audio in of the freqbox, then cv out from sequencer to freq in and use the freqbox audio out which theoretically be gated?
thanks for your help, but just tried this out, and i get nothing.
you can hear the sequencer running, i get like thuds in the sound, when i connect it to FREQ in.
and weather i get gate or not, thats ok, i just want some melodies, free-running or not.
(but i do have both 101 and 103. and the 103 has LFO)
sorry all.
actually got it to work.
not really sure what i was doing earlier, and last night.
anyways, the sequencer has a Level knob, which basically determines the
space between the voltages (and also how high and low the go)
reckon they were out of range for the MF107 to pick up or something.
thats kinda what i was doing at first, but then i didnt get the CV from the sequencer to work.
anyways, ive got it to work now, so then my question is;
is it safe to send a gate signal to AUDIO IN on the freqbox?
i mean, mine is still running fine, so no harm done so far.
I wouldn’t send the 107 a gate signal simply because there is nothing to trigger. Rather than triggering audio, you should just use the osc out and send that to a VCA and trigger it that way.
You CAN use the 102 as a vca but you lose a lot of the great aspects of the 102 by forcing it to do that. It doesn’t take the place of a real vca fooger.
