MF102 Set-Up With Mic

Hi, just bought a MF102 to use primarily with a mic but i’m having trouble getting anything out of it.

My set-up is as follows -

This mic - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-XM8500-Ultravoice-Cardioid-Microphone/dp/B0002KZAKS/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1518295409&sr=1-1&keywords=Behringer+XM8500 - connected to the MF102 audio in via an xlr to 1/4" cable, then the MF102 audio out connected to a pair of active speakers via a 1/4" to phono cable.

I’m probably missing something and this post - https://forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?t=8390 - seems to suggest I may need a mixer between the mic and the MF102. Can anyone provide any guidance…?

Cheers,

Nick

MF102 wants a line level input signal. Put your mic through a preamp, small mixer etc (with phantom power if the mic needs it), from there into MF102. I use this kind of setup a lot with shakuhachi going into the ringmod.
