MF-105 or MF-105B what's better for the LP?

Hey all!

Kinda new to all this stuff, so please don’t kill me for asking something noob…

But I have a Little Phatty, and was thinking about getting a Murf pedal… From what I heard in some of the youtube demos on a a guitar and reading some of what posters have recommended, I think I may get a MurF.

The issue is this however… Which one to get? The MF-105 or the MF-105B?

The reason I ask is because, since the LP is a synth and is capable of handling low end and high end frequencies it kinda presents a dilemma right? If I mainly use my LP to do bass or mid range parts, would it be in my best interest to get the MF-105B? Likewise, should I buy pedals that are geared towards “Bass” instruments?

Or, is there no difference between the two pedals other than marketing? Or should I buy both? I am confused! I also have a Roland Sh-101 and TB-303, which I would like to run the Murf on.

Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

you have a roland SH-101 and a TB-303 and a MOOG lp
you are not worthy!!

 Each does something different, he’s a synth guy  There are several on the fourom who have more than one “bass worthy synth” on hand

Both MuRF share a few of the same patterns but each has ones unique to it. The Frequencies are also differnt. On the 105 they are:200,300,450,675,1K,1.5k,2.5k 3.4k on the 105B:110,160,240,350,525,775,1.2k,1.8k.

The 105 is more useful over a wide range but If you primarily are going to use it for bass sounds the 105B is probably your best choice, but you can still get some interesting sounds from the 105 with bass sounds. Same with using the 105B for sounds other than bass, though with the filters upper limit being 1.6k you’ll be a little limited but that could be the end result you’re looking for.

Both MuRFs can do more than is readily apparent, as we’ve said adjusting the rates, the envelope each filter slider in an almost endless combination, you can come up with some really cool sounds.

Thanks for your immediate reply! Totally makes sense, about the freq limitations on either of the MuRfs, don’t know why I didn’t realize it at first!

I may take your advice on getting the regular MF-105, as it will be a little more versatile if I want to make those basslines enter into acid squelching territory.

Off topic, I just ordered the MF-104Z, and am really excited about it! I test drove it with the TB-303 and it sounds phenomenal, can’t wait to hear it on the LP!

Cheers!

No problem  You can always add the 105B at some point down the road, I switch beteen the two. Congrats on the 104z, it’s a nice delay. If you liked it on the 303 you’ll love it on the LP. Don’t forget to try other effetcs in the loop of the 104z all kinds of fun you can have with it.
