MF-103 Switching Problem

Hi,

A few years ago, I bought a brand new MF-103 12-Stage Phaser. Unfortunately, it had a problem right out of the box – the stomp switch does not work. Instead, the bypass can be toggled only by switching the power on and off. Interestingly, triggering the stomp switch will show a little green flash on the input LED. I took the back off the unit and everything looks fine.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I don’t really want to have to pay to send it in at this point, if possible.

Thanks for your time and input.

I finally grew a bit more courageous & decided to open it up and take a look. I figured that since the problem was ‘switching’ I should start troubleshooting from the switch. A voltmeter showed that the switch itself was working. Then I found that the switch signal was not making it to the board. A little investigating revealed that one of the wires was not fully stripped and seated in the plug. A bit frustrating but easy enough to fix.. a little work with the wire strippers and a small flatblade screw driver got it working!

Moral: don’t be afraid to carefully take a look.

While I was looking inside I noticed it will be very easy to mod moogerfoogers for remote triggering. Yay!

Hi will,

I’ll bite. What types of triggering do you have in mind
for the various moogrfoogers?

I’ve already modded my MF-101 to enable an alternate
source for its Envelope Follower and really enjoy the
added possibilities.

Oh, I just want to be able to toggle a given moogerfooger using the least amount of space on my pedalboard. The toggle appears to be a simple momentary switch, so I plan to wire another switch in parallel and toggle the moogerfoogers remotely. This will also let me rack the units for easier transport, and then place them up off the floor where I can adjust them easier and/or move them out of the way. I already use CV controller pedals but sometimes I just want to toggle.

Huzzah!
