hi ppl
i just received my latest `fooger : an mf103 phaser to accompany my mf101
just wondering on the best way to connect them together (i have no TRS cables until the morning but my curiousity is getting the better of me!)
if i were to plug my bass into the mf101 audio in, take the env out from the 101 into the mf103 (sweep input maybe for some envelope phasing?) would i still need to connect the audio out of the 101 into the audio in of the 103 aswell as connecting the 103 audio out into my amp (does that make sense???)
any help would be most appreciated
thanks fellas
Yes that is correct; you could also patch the envelope out and use it to control the LFO rate on the phaser, for example. You only need TRS cables if you want to also use an expression pedal on any of the CV input jacks. Using a TS cable won’t break anything, you just won’t be able to use an expression pedal at the same time.
You don’t HAVE to connect the audio signals together, either, you could use the MF101 env out to modulate the sweep or LFO while the phaser is processing some other signal, like a guitar, keyboard, drums, voice, etc. But if you want to hear the bass through the phaser, then yes, you need to connect the audio in and out on the phaser as well.
thanks! that pretty much covers it! thanks for posting so quickly!!
i will be using expression pedals but i wont have to use TRS cables for the audio connections though do i ??? just for the CV connections right??
thanks again
Yes, that is correct.
If your gear supports balanced connections, using TRS cables can help eliminate RF interference noise, but it can also complicate things a bit if you encounter a ground loop (which can cause hum). I don’t think the Moogerfoogers support balanced audio connections, so the point is moot. TS cables for Moogerfooger audio is fine.
excellent.. thanks very much for your kind advice ![]()
