MF-102 tremolo vs MF-108M tremolo

To my ears the Moog MF-102 tremolo effect is better and can handle more signal input then the MF-108M tremolo settings
Anyone prefer the 108 tremolo sound?
is there any way I can sync the MF-102 by sending it a gate input from a drum machine

thanks in advance

The easiest way to sync the mf102 to a drum machine would be to use a mp201. The cheapest way would be to output a fitting sound to an envelope follower then plug the output into the carrier. If it is a cv sequencer more options may work.

Jeepo,

Unless you’ve come up with something really cool that is eluding me (always a possibility), you cannot sync the tremolo rate to a drum machine, even with the MP-201. You can however (and this is pretty cool) send a MIDI-synced square wave LFO to the 102’s freq input and have the 102 jump back and forth between two different tremolo rates with the jump points being on the beat. This assumes you are in lo freq mode. Hi mode has a different, but also cool effect.

couldnt you just send that same midi synced square wave lfo to the carrier input? that should give midi synced tremolo

Indeed! And use some CV lag/smoothing to avoid clicks…
Or use MP’s LFO and sync them to MIDI clock.
MP rocks with this kind of apps!!!

Does 108 produce tremolo modulation?
Thats strange

I dont own a flux yet, but the square can sound tremolo-ish from samples I’ve heard

Maybe the 108 is not meant to do tremolo. I thunk it’s the coolest fooger though!

Definitely not meant to do tremolo. Flux does more time/pitch modulation whereas tremolo is amplitude (volume) modulation

Agreed - Vibrato it does fairly well, tremolo it does poorly. 102 is king for a tremolo-style effect.
