Are there any functional differences between these two jacks? My gut tells me no, but the online manuals describe them with different wording. For one, the MF-107 manual mentions that the output is “unfiltered”. Is this significant? Does it mean I might not get the expected results as compared to the ENV OUT of the MF-101? Also, the MF-107 manual mentions that the envelope is only available when the effect is ON. Is this also true of the MF-101?
im not sure about the rest, as i dont own a FREQ yet, but the envelope out on the 101 works when the pedal is switched off. your signal is always going through the circuits of the 101 (not true bypassed) where i believe the freqbox is routed like the paser. when you switch it off, the circuit is bypassed
Thanks for that info. I don’t own either yet. I have a Voyager SE so I can’t see getting the 101. I do want an envelope follower though. That’s the main reason I’m interested in the 107. The OSC SYNC will be a nice addition also, since the sync in the SE is so limited.
yeah i would probably go for the freqbox. im sure you would b eable to find some use for the 101 but the freqbox seems to suit your needs. i think the vx351 has an envelope follower too… or something like that
Actually not. The VX-351 is the Voyager CV Expander - it’s simply a break-out box for Voyager control voltages. No Envelope Follower here.
You may have been thinking of the Lag Processor in the CP-251. The Lag Processor is used to smooth out CV’s by independently controlling the rise and fall times, but it’s not an Envelope Follower.
Would be very handy and useful if it worked that way, though.

i just checked it out again, i thought the “ENVS” section with the filter and volume jacks was a follower, but i was wrong
Yeah, it definitely would be nice if the CP-251 included an envelope follower. Not that I couldn’t put a freqbox to good use, but it’s too bad we have to buy a dedicated effect box for the sake of the EF.
im sure there will be a new cp style box eventually. they need and ADSR still and then the envelope follower. thats would be a fun little box. i think some one on here drew up a prototype of something like that
I think it would make sense to have another cp style box, if not to complete the set if you are a RME owner and have the MoogerFooger Rack mount kit with a CP, Vx351, Vx352, you have a huge gap in the panel.
I don’t know if they woudl put another Envelope FOllower on there because they already have two. But it would be nice to have dueling envelope generators with another multiple and more attenuators (because I don’t think that you can have too many of either one)
I do think they should have an audio mixer on there if one is using the 102 and the 107 as extra osc’s so you could balance them before going into the Ext In on the voyager.

The one thing that is still missing from the Moogerfooger line-up (okay, maybe not the only one) is an Envelope Gen/VCA combo.
IMO, the EG should be a full ADSR design that can be triggered via a Gate or manually with a pushbutton. The VCA should handle CV or audio signals (CV for creating LFO fades, for example). It would also be cool to incorporate the Overload circuit from the LP into the VCA to add some extra girth, and include a simple two-channel Mixer before the VCA.
Add some jacks to maximize the flexibility, package it in the same enclosure as the CP-251 and call it the MF-106 (you know, the missing 'Fooger).

THrow in a dual trigger delay and with Greg’s suggestions, youd be able to do some advanced modular style programming, system 55 style.

I use my CP-251 all the time. I would buy a new version with an ADSR/VCA or dual trigger delay any day! The price of the CP-251 was excellent for the amount of “modules” it contained as well as being very useful for many different types of signal and gear manipulating. I would even go for a full rack-width CP-box with even more great modules in it. You could satisfy almost all of the requests with an ADSR, VCA and a sequencer (or a small midi to CV/Hz/Gate+/-).
