I just updated my OS to 1.5 and I have a question about panel mode.
I can’t figure out how to get into straight manual mode. That is, a mode where the sound is based on where the knobs and switches are set. It seems like when I bring up a stored preset, you have to actually turn a knob to get it to reset itself to where it’s set.
For example, lets say I configure the front panel to a basic bass patch. Then I load a preset that uses sample & hold. How do I get back to the bass patch?
Can I go back and forth between a preset and the manual state of my front panel?
In the ‘Edit’ menu, there is a function called ‘Real Panel Contr.’ and it does what your asking. Of course, when you save presets, they will no longer correspond to the setting in many cases. If you want to keep the panel ‘live’ while you scroll through presets, you might want to turn ‘Quick Mode’ to OFF (it defaults to ON). This will require you to hit enter before a preset is activated, instead of just opening each preset as you are scrolling though.
I hope Moog implements a ‘pass-through’ mode, as found on many modern synths whereby the setting on the knobs are not effected until you have crossed over the point at which it was saved, thus avoiding any dramatic spikes. For example, say your filter knob was left up high, and your patch featured a closed filter. The way it is now, the moment you start to turn the knob, the setting jumps to where the knob is at. Pass though would require that you turn the knob to the point where it exists in the memory of the preset before it becomes active to avoid these surprises.
