LP2 vs LP SE

Im curious, I heard from the grape vine that the new LP 2 sounds subtly different from the LP 1… is this true?

I know the LP2 has the USB that will be eventually offered as a user added upgrade, and both synths can be at the 2.0 software state but Im curious is there’s been any changes electronically at all… down to a resistor change or anything of the sort that could theoretically make it have a subtle tonal change or anything revised in a new revision that would make it better?

well all the presets are completely different… so that could be an influencing factor. I’d be very curious to know if anyone’s done a real A/B comparison using the exact same patches side by side.

The only hardware difference is that the Stage II has some lower-noise sample and hold ICs; this is what we offer to all stage I owners as the “noise modification” that has been discussed previously on this forum. It should actually make things sound a little crispier and nicer. The difference would be exceedingly subtle on most patches, just like the “noise” or interference is exceedingly subtle on most patches with the Stage I.

Awesome

So its safe to say it’s the same other than the high frequency noise issue being solved in it, actually makes it more crispy!.. sounds good to me

2 it is..lol

Thanks Amos!

I thought it was Moog duty :s

When is the Lp Se number III coming out ? It’s being pathetic. Honestly it’s a shame that Moog doesn’t care that much about the Tribute owners and even the Stage edition owners now, after what i’v just read. You don’t fix anterior problems and release a new version each time because the products are faulty.

So even when you released the Stage Edition saying you fixed the prob : actually it wasn’t and you keep going this way.

I’m really disapointed, i was the owner of a Tribute Edition and this topic just confirmed your new policy. So i traded my Tribute for an awesome Arp Odyssey Mk2 and OH MY GOD.

Plus i had already a non working led on oscillators wave selector (not even 1 year after).

So I ll buy the 4th or 8th version of the Little Phatty (maybe lol).

Seriously I hope the last edition is on point :s I don’t mind about Usb, Arpegios but I WANT SOUND.

Don’t you realize how many version of the LP you released in such a short period !

Moog still the best modern analog synths nowadays and the Lp helped me a lot understanding synthesis. Then for just : Thank you MOOG. I just hope you won’t make the same mistakes in the future.

I couldn’t disagree more with you… the problem these days with synth manufacturers is the damn element of commercialization and trendy behavior has been way overdone …there’s no more individuality and drive to make things better… they just package some garbage with software in a box according to marketing analysis and are done with it…

I guess its a transitional state in the world of hardware, as software has really dented those companies, hence their trendy products. BUT!!! hardware is so back baby…LOL

Ive been following this forum for a long time and Moogs are still one of a kind instruments… YES they have their flaws, and over time there’s been changes made to them that may be unfortunate to some first adopters, but honestly… after dealing with Amos and other moog personnel I cant imagine they would ever turn their backs on their customers…

I’d gladly package my Moog and send it back to the mothership for mods!!!

WEEEehhaaaaa!

big deal if its all a work in progress once in a while. Its like buying a Vintage Guitar that lacks character or imperfections!! that’s what gives its unique sound and feel… pointless!!! Moogs are the real deal… its like “Home Made Heaven”

I cant wait for my Voyager… its going to be my “Studio Trophy Wife”!!! “drools”
