LP2: Improved Keybed?

I was at GC the other day checking out the LP2, the sales person insisted Moog has upgraded the keys on the LP2. Can anyone confirm this?

There are a couple of minor improvements but it’s the same basic keybed. One thing that was done was to add a strip of damping foam behind the key springs; this creates a somewhat smoother and quieter action. That’s the only obvious improvement of which I am aware; otherwise it’s just a matter of small refinements to the manufacturing process, to increase the overall quality of what is basically the same product.

Cheers,

Amos

would it be possible to retrofit a tribute with this? keys are kinda noisy

sure, you could do it yourself with a strip of grey foam weatherstripping such as you’d put on the edge of a door to keep draughts out. That’s basically what it is. It just tucks in under the springs (you remove the springs, put in the foam strip, then replace the springs). That’s about all there is to it, really…

rockin thnx amos…by the time i get to asheville im gonna have a huge list of things to do to my lpte lol…i better book a day long appointment

Waitaminnit…this isn’t the same foam that turns to oily goo in twenty years and gets into every nook and cranny, is it? I’m thinking MG-1, Liberation, Etc. :open_mouth:

That thought occurred to me as well :open_mouth:

no; it’s not the same foam. As far as I know, weatherstrip-type foam does not break down in this way. In any case, its location is isolated from everything else pretty well; the keybed is in a separate compartment from all other electronics.

Cheers,

A

Thanks for the info, Amos.

Time to buy me an LP2.

Hi Amos! Fancy seeing you here on a Saturday! Thanks for the reply! I was worried for the Stage II owners! BTW, I sent you a PM.
