LP (TE) Calibration Order

Hi Amos and friends,

I just got my Little Phatty (TE) off ebay yesterday and to my delight it is the most beautiful thing i have ever bought. Even when making-out with my girlfriend i make sure her back is towards the LP at all times so i can keep an open eye staring at my beautiful new moog!

anyways, down to business.
So, to my sadness right when the LP arrived this one note (C) at a specific frequency just wasn’t acting right, it just made a high pitched whine. I knew it wasn’t the physical key because it’s location (octave up & down) changed when i pressed the transpose key. I didn’t freak because this screamed “FIRMWARE ERROR” to me. I did the logical steps of rebooting the machine, making a new patch and finally re-calibration of the machine.
Two hours later, voila! It worked!
To my surprise though, the pitchbend was acting different then it was before the calibration. It only bent the note down (-) and not up (+).
I was surprised by this because i thought i had re-calibrated the pitchbend also (the only calibration that requires to physically move any parts on the machine).
My thought is that i might have done something out of order. Could anyone (nudges Amos) here tell me the exact order of calibration these need to be performed in? (i.e. Pitchwheel first…blah second…blah third…blah fourth)

  • Pitchwheel
  • Note
  • PW Amount
  • OSC 2 Freq

Thank you kindly!

yep if you just did the Note Cal without first doing the Pitch Wheel you’re gonna see this… since the tuning is good now, try just doing the Pitch Wheel calibration and see if it fixes everything. You should always calibrate the Pitch Wheel before doing a Note Calibration as the second relies on the first. The Note Calibration is the only one that takes particularly long; the others are so quick that I generally just do them all in order, starting with Pitch Wheel and then each one in the order it is listed on the menu as you scroll the Data knob clockwise. Basically in the order you listed them.
BTW, congrats on your new LP! Don’t let the girlfriend get too jealous…

Thanks Amos!
