Just picked up a Voyager, solar mahogany, and I’m going to sell the LP. Was wondering if I can get my stored patches over to the Voyager from the Little Phatty?

Nope. I wouldn’t imagine that the Voyager patches and LP patches are transferrable from one to the other, but if I’m wrong, someone will correct me. Common sense tells me the answer is no, however. ![]()
You might want to back up all your presets as sysex files just in case you buy another one. But no, I highly doubt that you can transfer them to the voyager.
Hello,
Not that I know of via sysex, but you could do a manual patch translation:
As Klopfgeist has suggested, you can store them as a sysex file
(or use the editor), and keep them on a disk in case you want to use them at some other time on another Phatty.
Iirc, the Little Phatty displays a parameter number stream like the Vger (precision mode on the LP?). You could make up a little chart/patch sheet for the LP that lists each parameter and it’s corresponding midi number stream value, take a stored, blank patch on the Vger and dial in the same midi number value, then fine tune by ear.
Once you have the numbers dialed in on the Vger, you’d do an A/B, general fine tune, then write the version dialed in on the Vger into the desired patch location manually.
With the exception of the LP’s filter overload function, the Vger and LP share the same basic hardware engine, so this would more than likely work, especially if the selected patches use very little to none of the filter overload function.
The Vger’s parameter number stream seems to correspond to the edit dial position on the LP, its just a matter of fine tuning the patch and trusting your ears.
Obviously, this method is slower than being able to do a direct patch translation via an external software application, but even if you only did a several patch translations per day, you’d soon have a very workable Vger bank of your most valued LP patches. This works well if you prefer to use the LP for gigging, keep the Vger in the studio, but your set requires closely similar live patch settings to the studio version for each song.
For those patches requiring larger amounts overdrive, you could use an external effect in the Vger’s mixer effects loop; not exactly the same as LP’s overload function, but still very workable.
It seems that a software application could be created for this purpose. Translating LP-to-Vger wouldn’t be much of a problem. You’d only have to have it ignore the filter overload parameter.
A Vger-to-LP wouldn’t fare quite as well, as the Vger has a significant nuber of functions not present on the LP.

Lawrence
Thank You.
Before you do so, it would be excellent if you could hook them together via Midi and get some of that fabled Moog duophony and post it as a video so we can see!
Congrats on your purchase.
No way they are transferrable.
Eric
Hummm…I totally forgot about that Eric! That makes me think about selling it now.
You mean like this?
Thanks for sharing that. Im assuming that you didn’t post it?
There are few videos out there.
When I get the Taurus, Ill do one, but Ill doubt that it will do the soundz justice.
Eric
No, not me. I don’t know who the fellow is.
Nice, let’s see some pix of your new Solar Mahogany ![]()
Also, if I were you I would keep the phatty. I wish I had when I let go of mine.
Alright, I’ll try to get some tomorrow. BTW, the Voyager is the perfect partner for the Dave Smith Prophet 08!
So I’ve heard ![]()
And put your Voyager pix here please.
That CZ-Rider has a Voyager and at least 2 RMEs not to mention a TON of vintage gear. He’s put up a bunch of great videos also so if all else fails, maybe he can fill his studio with smoke again and produce something of a demo.

Mike, I have been wanting to make a video. Guess i’ll just have to do it. Using the Moog modular for bass and the three voice Voyager.
Here is a teaser video I just did with my camera, 15 sec and onboard mic.
This one has a small two octave MIDI keyboard triggering the Moog 1P bass and the Voyager with two RME’s for three vioces, for a total of 4 Moog voices.
Polyphonic Voyager with Moog 1P bass AVI 2.6 MEGS
I’ll do a proper one sometime, recorded direct without the key noise, but it’s a polyphonic Voyager video!
Whoa!
That’s the general consensus whenever CZ posts something, be it a picture, soundclip, or video. ![]()
