Moog Music is pleased to present the latest operating system for the LP Stage Edition; version 2.00!
As many of you are excruciatingly aware by now, this update includes new features such as an arpeggiator with MIDI sync (and MIDI note output from the arp), MIDI sync-able LFO, Tap Tempo, and a whole new bank of tasty presets ranging from pure vintage tones to the ultra-modern.
OK, try this out, have fun… READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before doing the update… make 100% certain you have the latest drivers installed for your MIDI interface before attempting the update; I can’t stress this enough.
Please use this thread to post your questions and comments about the new OS, and let me know if you have any troubles with the update process. I’ve tested it pretty thoroughly and it should be a smooth ride.
Excuse me if this has been asked lately, as I have been away for a while. I did not see it on a quick glance at the site.
Are we ever going to see this new update for the Tribute Edition? Supposidly it was going to happen, but I have not heard about it yet, and I see nothing about it on the site (unless I missed it).
Will the TE still be getting an arpeggiator and a clock synced to MIDI?
"For people with questions about the Tribute Edition: I can only say please be patient and don’t worry so much! We’ll take good care of you. There will be a TE update which does NOT require any hardware update and which improves the “EGR matrix” noise solution. This version will NOT have the arpeggiator and other v2.0 new features, because it physically can’t. There’s no room for the extra code without a memory upgrade.
there will also be a TE release of OS 2.0 WITH all the new features, but due to the resulting size of the code, this version will require a memory upgrade. The memory upgrade will be inexpensive and readily available; we can perform the upgrade here at the Moog factory or (especially for overseas customers) we can send the new memory chip to you and you can have it fitted by your own technician, or we can recommend a Moog-authorised tech if there is one in your area. "
They do say that nothing comes easily… its 2 am and I
just managed to get the update into the Phatty Stage after
3 hours effort.
I ran the auto updater and strolled away to get a cup of tea
thinking to myself how easy this all is. Came back to find
LP saying ‘STAGE 1 ERROR CYCLE POWER’. No ammount of
fiddling around with my hardware/drivers could change this
so eventually I decided to upload the sysex using midi-ox.
I have a trusty Edirol UM-2 as my midi interface which I use
to talk sysex to a number of different hardware units no probs.
With Midi-Ox, the first install attempt got to Stage 3 and then it
hung. I waited for 40 min whilst I read on this forum about poor
Ghost’s problems and started to think that I wouldn’t be enjoying
OS2 for a while as I switched off the incomplete install Phatty.
Don’t know why but I decided to try uploading the sysex once more
and this time it worked! The phatty sailed through Stage 3 to
completion. Very strange.
The Phatty now has an awesome arpeggiator! It took me a while to
believe that it worked as I didn’t appreciate that the value selector
could be pushed. Doh!
Wow, somehow I missed this thread this morning…must be old age.
Anyway, thank you, Amos! Best wishes to for a happy holiday!
Will be installing mine later this afternoon after a quick shopping trip with the Mrs.
Update: Nice job on the updater. Did not have any problems with Win XP Pro (service pack 2) and running through a Delta 1010LT Midi interface. Nothing but Arp bliss here!
obviously if you have the LP SE and you upgrade to the new OS, you could save your original factory patches through the librarian software… but, if, like myself, you’re starting out with a Stage II, is there any way to get the Stage One factory set… I have found the factory presets an excellent way to study the signal path, as well as many of them being quite usable as starting points for original patches…and would like to be able to check out the prevous set… thanks for any reply! - jgirv
The update for me wasn’t very smooth…
I have a Mac, for the dump I used Sysex Librarian and an Edirol UM-550 midi interface…
The first time I tried to update to 2.0 I got the message FIRMWARE SX ERROR CODE 2… …panic…
Then I tried again and… success! I did it!
The arpeggiator is awesome!
It feels a little strange playing chords on my LP though…
