I’m looking at sweetwater and am tossed up on which to buy. I have nothing I could hook to the cv outs at this time and being a complete newb I have no idea how useful they are? I’ve been reading here and see there are some things you can do with them but I have non of the other devices you all use with them. I doubt I would have anything I could use with them for a long time unless I built it myself. I’m not sure I wouldn’t just rather have a nano pad to do some midi control with it instead. I saw the link where the nanopad was used with 5 notes on each pad, now that I could use. Chords with the left hand notes with the right. Thanks for helping a neophyte!
You can plug them back into the LP itself ![]()
If you can spend the $ get the CV model - it will re-sell better also.
If I had the chance, I would certainly buy it WITH CV outs.
I had my Tribute edition upgraded w/v2 hw upgrade and CV outs at the same time and do not regret it but… it’s not perfect.
The CV Pitch out does NOT track pitch bend or Glide at all which is a major major loss (to me). And the Gate out as triggered by the arpegiator has too long a pulse to be sensed as a Gate on other Moog equipment such as the Voyager Old School or the Step function of the MurF. This could be more of the software algorithm in the ARP section than anything related to CV-out but if there were a way to adjust the pulse width, it could be easily taken care of.
Otherwise, the ENV outs and Mod outs work well.
Have a good think about what you would do with the CV outs and see if it’s worth it to you.
Take what I said above with a grain of salt, I was among the first dozen likely to have it done (even before they advertised it) so they may have changed the design, especially for the [more] mass produced models.
I don’t regret having it done, just setting expectations for you while asking if others have had the same experiences.
I recommend getting a used Little Phatty Stage I. I got one for $800 bucks and then upgraded it to a Stage II for $100. Now I can get the CV upgrade for $200. Altogether, I would have the Stage II with CV for $1,100. Which is like $350 cheaper than the CV version on Sweetwater. Not to mention, I kind of prefer the silver back… ![]()
