I’m planning on building one or more portable cabinet reproductions for my Moog format modular, and I’m looking for all of the information I can get.
I know these cabinets house 2 rack width rows (17") of 5 unit (8.75") modules, and one rack width row of 4 unit (7") “CP” modules. This gives me inside dimensions of 24.5" Height X 17" Width. But I don’t know what the depth of these cabinets were. I’m guessing there might be dimensions for Moog modules with “L” frames somewhere in the 900 Service Manual, but I’m estimating the cabinet depth to be about 10" or 12" deep.
But I’m wondering if anyone here knows for sure, and wouldn’t mind sharing the info? Also, if the above dimensions are close to correct, and what is the width of the wood used in the cabinet (looks like 0.5" width)?

Incidentally, Club of the Knobs makes a very nice 1P cabinet reproduction, but it’s relatively expensive for US buyers after shipping charges.
Here are the dimensions you requested for the moog 15/1P case: Outside width - 18 inches or 457mm
height - 24 and 3/8 inches or 619mm
depth - 8 and 1/8 inches or 207mm
Subtract 1 inch from the height and width to get the Inside case measurement if you are using 1/2 inch material as per original. Hope that helps.
but it raises another question for me-- If the outside height is 24 & 3/8", making the inside 23 & 3/8"-- that must mean I have the size of the CP module wrong. I had read that they were 4 units (or 7") tall, but I must assume now that they are actually more like 6" (5 & 7/8").
Would you mind confirming this for me?
I enjoy building DIY synthesizers; I’ve been making various reproductions for several years now, and I just much prefer the size and shape of the 1P cases to the square ones that Synthesizers.com sell. So, I’m gonna try to reproduce this case hopefully as well as the ones COTK sell (which is done very well IMO). THe COTK case is just a little too expensive, at around 1K shipped to the US. The one pitured is Moog.
Well Eric the CP faceplate on my 15 measures 5 and 5/8 inches tall with about 1/8 of space on the bottom exposing a bit of the piano hinge. The CP is hinged on the bottom and opens up like a hopper when the top screws are removed.
