Loading Presets onto Voyager Sig Edition OS 2.6

Hi i am havcing some trouble i am transmitting sysex data for new patch banks to the voyager with midiox perfectly, but when i got back to the voyager none of the patches seem to have changed. OR some have changed but only 1 or 2…it doesnt seem to make sense, i am running the sysex dump from midiox, with the voyager displaying “Sysex Enabled” on its screen, could someone be ever so kind enought just to run me through the process quickly…so i know what to expect!!

Thanks ever so much!

Oh also the midi light on the V againt lighting up when i send the sysex…(like it does on my pulse etc when i update that) although all midi chans etc are set correctly.

Thankyou!

Make sure you have a connection with MidiOX. You have to connect with two MIDI cables; both Midi IN and OUT. When you press a key from the Voyager you should see Midi info being documented on the MidiOx monitor view screen. If not, then check your connections and how you have MidiOx’s ports assigned (which I always found to be confusing when first using it). Go into MidiOx’s Sysex Scratchpad and go to CONFIGURE. Make sure the Buffers are both set to something like “Number 64 Size 1024”.

Under Master Mode you should have the menu at Receive presets and Sysex enabled. I believe this procedure is in the manual. Go to MidiOx Sysex Scratchpad. Load the file and send it. Voyager should display that it is receiving the file. I believe if you are sending a whole bank, it will replace everything in V’ger’s bank. So make sure it’s backed up.

Don’t forget to have MidiOx and Voyager on the same midi channel.

Let us know if it works.

I’d add that it could also be a transmission rate issue, i.e. the speed of the data transfer may be too fast for the Voyager to keep up with.

Try slowing it down.

Greg

Wicked cheers guys i wasnt aware MidiOX needed midi in to be connected all sorted now the patches are getting on…do i need to confirm the patches on by saving as it seems to be reverting back to the original patches?

Thanks for your help by the way…

Hello!

Having the same problem here. Just update my Voyagers O.S. from 2.1 too 2.5 using midi ox. But when i want too upload preset files form the moog website [ http://moogmusic.com/software/zonsyx.zip , htttp://moogmusic.com/software/twolfsyx.zip ] I have only the 1st 20 presets working and the rest of the presets not comming trough.

Here’s a screen shot of my settings, I made several attemps with a delay between 200 and 1000 ms. :

What can I try more?

certain Midi interfaces have known problems handling large SysEx streams.
And quite a few users have set up a midi loop in their equipment.
To check the later, just unplug the midi cable on the Voyager’s midi out socket and try again sending data to the Voyager.

Thanks! I’ll try it unplugged  I use a UM-880 btw.

Don’t forget to check the Voyager’s SysEx ID also; this is in the Master menu and should typically be set to 1. If everything else is right but the SysEx ID is some random number (as can occasionally happen after an OS update) then you will have the problems described in this thread.

Cheers,

Amos

I disconected midi out, but the same problem. Next time I check the sys.ex numbre.

Thanks sofar!

The sysex number = 1. WTF I’m doing wrong? :unamused:

MidiOX needed midi in to be connected

You need no MIDI in connection to the computer when you want to load presets into the Voyager - just the MIDI out of the computer is OK.

Serge, how big is the MIDI file you sent to your Voyager?
Is it 19KByte?
