I’m looking at the LP as one of my options for my first analog synth. I know a lot of the vintage ones I’ve played in the past were not velocity sensitive, and I think contributes to that vintage vibe, which I’m looking for. Though I’d prefer to invest in a newer synth for relilability. So just wondering if there is a way to turn the velocity sensitivity OFF on the LP’s keyboard, and play it like the old school synths?
I like playing with velocity too, just wanted to know if that option would be available if I got the LP.
I know I could just record as midi and then change all the velocities to the same number, but I plan to play it live as audio, so I’d need to play the constant velocity live.
I haven’t checked in on this forum in a while, but a belated thanks for your help.
I have yet to purchase my Little Phatty, but I have another related question on velocity.
I just read somewhere that the LP is NOT velocity sensitivity in terms of volume. Where the harder you press a note the louder it sounds, and the softer the quieter.
But I also read there was a update in the new OS last year that now makes volume velocity sensitivity possible on the LP.
I was just wondering if that new OS is specific to a particular model of the LP, or for all LP’s? Basically, I plan to purchase a Stage I and just wanted to know if I could install this latest OS with the volume velocity sensitivity on the Stage I?
I have a stage 1. Yes, you can update it to the latest OS. There is one minor thing the stage 1 can not do in the newest OS that the slim and stage 2s can: Echo an incoming midi clock at the midi out.
The tribute editions can only be updated to a much older OS without a hardware upgrade.
Also to add to Monsieur Nose’s reply, the Tribute (even with 3.0 upgrade) cannot do velocity tied to amplitude (volume), only to filter. But considering that you are looking to purchase, I would assume that you would do so for a new model.
Also, I’m not sure that when tied to Amplitude on the newest keyboards that it’s absolutely wonderful? Will need somebody else to verify but I think it’s a bit glitchy, but I’m only going on what I’ve read.
