my problem is that my L. Phatty tribute does not respond to C.C. 07 (volume). The rest of the controllers seem to respond, but not this one. Could anyone tell me what the problem is?
Besides, each time I switch it on and it appears on the screen ‘1.03Tc 443’, I think this is the operating system…does it exit another superior to this one different from the 2.1? Does anyone know? if does, where can I get it?
You can get OS 2.00 for the Tribute, but the memory needs to be upgraded, which requires a tech to change out some chips on the board. Perhaps the good folks at Moog could recommend a competent tech center in Spain? Once your memory is upgraded, you can e-mail Amos for the upgraded software. Best of luck!
jajaj, in Spain…I don’t think there is a good tech center here…and I prefer the LP does not move from my home!! I just want to know if there is any that I can do by myself, without needing an upgrading of memory or anything like that.
What I need to know more urgently now, anyway, is the problem of the controller. I cannot guess the problem!!
There’s a 1.04 version for the Tribute. I sent an email to Amos to get it some time ago. I could it send to you if you want.
The only improvement is the auto EGR scan, which switches off the scanning of the egr buttons (eliminating the damn background noise) but you can still press the buttons while turning the knob. The Tribute version does NOT respond to midi controller 7 and it’s a hardware thing so no new version will provide this function.
I’m from Spain too and I’m trying to get the 2.0 upgrade thru MasAcoustics but seems quite complicated. This week I’m gonna phone them.
ok, so it will never respond to that controller of volume!! then, which is the way to do it? maybe with the oscilators? I would be very grateful if you can tell me…
I’m sending you a private with my e-mail and could you send me that version? By the moment I don’t like my experience with this synthe, there seem to be a lot of problems… Controller 7 doesn’t work, and if you want a new version you have to send it and spend more money, and that without getting all the new improvements, as the USB for example. Just one cero for Moog, sorry, but it is what I feel in this moment…if I don’t find any advantages in a few weeks, I think I will sell it.
I have the updated Tribute, and CC7 doesn’t work on this either. I am no expert with MidiOx, but when I turn the volume pot on the Tribute, there is no data going into MidiOx. All other pots respond. As far as I can tell, you would have to send Midi data to the individual oscillator volumes: cc15 and cc16
There are advantages of the tribute over the stage editions, mainly the RAC (real analog control) over more parameters. If you want the advantages of the stage I or II, sell the tribute and get a stage.
You could control the volume with CCs sent to control both OSC levels though you may get a change timbre changes especially if the sound has filter oscillation as the saturation level will drop. You could also use a midi to CV converter and use the CV volume control.
This was an intentional design choice with the LP Tribute… the volume pot is “all analog” - there is no digital control of it. User feedback suggested that this was not the preferred way to do it, so we gave digital control to the master volume on the Stage/Stage II Editions.
I’m not sure who decided that it was the best… if a synthe has MIDI, why is it better to limite its possibilities? I had in mind buying a VOYAGER, but after seeing the problems of my LP and those of the Voyager, it is for sure that I’m not gonig to do it. I cannot believe that a brand like MOOG, so important, solves the problems by ear…
thanks to god my LP does not make that noise… maybe the worst buy I’ve ever done, and I have had a lot of synthes on my hands…
I myself have never had a problem with the design of my Stage edition. Moog products are of the finest quality, Moog listens to customer feedback and implements customer ideas, something no other company that I know of does, and yet because you have an issue with what was basically a prototype synth, you will not support such a company? That makes no sense to me.
