the less red ones are AMBER, as are the wheels on the Stage edition. The more red ones are… well… kind of red. The LEDs that are blue on the Tribute are amber on the Stage; the ones that are purple on the Tribute are a kind of red/orange on the Stage edition.
Hey Amos,
Thanks for straightening this out.
I just had to laugh when I read this. The fact of the matter is, the LP is a really bitchin’ looking little synth, Stage or Tribute. When people come into my home studio and see the LP sitting there, it just screams “Come take a look at me!!”, and this is with the power off and no lights on at all.
I just think that it is kind of funny how people buy things in this day and age. When Bob Moog put out the original Minimoog 30 some years ago, I know that he spent a lot of time on getting the right design, but I wonder if people really went on and on about what color the different switches were, what color the power light was, etc.
We have two pages of entries here, discussing the actual color of the lights, whether the end panels should be black or grey (or wood), and whether we like the Moog logo on the back vs. the Bob Moog signature on the back. Years ago all anyone would have talked about was how cool the LP sounded.
I am not putting anybody down because of their preferences or musings on what looks best. I just think that it is funny that the looks of the two synths, while being only slightly different, are causing so much discussion and opinion.
How the synth world has changed. Now days the looks are almost as important as the sound, it seems.
By the way, while I prefer the looks of the Tribute and the blue lights, the Stage has an interesting Goth/Industrial look that haunts me enough to keep considering the purchase of a Stage version as well.

Well, the new issue here is not the sound, we all know how it sounds and it sounds great! The only difference between this one and the tribute is the LOOK, and I think thats why only the look is being discussed here.
As stated by OysterRock, the sound and features of the LP have been discussed in great detail, what’s being offered in the Stage Ed. is essentially a new paint job…only natural that people are commenting on it.
The volume of responce is evidence that the new Stage Ed. is causing quite a reaction..mostly very positive, I now someone who’s selling their Tribute to get a Stage. If you watch ebay you’ll be seeing a few Tributes FS for this very reason..people like the new paint job. Yeah i guess this all could be seen as funny, especially by moog, who should be laughing all the way to the bank with the new Stage Ed. LP. ![]()
Yeah, I suppose you’re right!
the stage looks nice but imo but not as nice as the tribute.
I like the way the Stage Edition looks and in my opinion this is what this synth should be like… after all it’s supposed to be a cheaper, cut-down unit (shame the price isn’t a little lower).
Great that the end cheaks will look better longer and why not have some variation… I loved my multimoog for the very reason it didn’t look (or sound) like my mini.
For those that like Bobs signature just buy a unit from the UK!!
Anyone seen the new RED Voyager “FIRE”?
MAl
it would be really nice if you could choose the color and design of the side panels
- 1972 chevy station wagon plywood look
- barbie pink
- kraut rock orange
- xmas red/green
- gothic black
- diy panels for your own artwork
- camo army look
- faux fur
- swiss cheese look
- snow white look
- tiger stripes look
- bling bling chav fake-diamond studded look
- st. patrick’s day irish leprechaun look
- funky lemon yellow
- plexiglass seethrough look
that’d be nice! set of 3 styles / pick n mix 50 bucks.

Cool, eh?
You mean this?

I personally bought the Tribute Edition BECAUSE it was the Tribute Edition. If i had only cared about the insides I would have waited. Everyone has their own reasons for a particular purchase. IMO the retro look is an integral part of the MOOG history and product line. OK theres my 2 cents worth…I LOVE this thing and am consider myself very fortunate to have obtained one. I will be leaving it to my children someday and through that they will have a connection to Bob’s incredible contribution to music history. Thank you sooo much MOOG for the memory of Bob immortalized in this synth ![]()
You can still get a TE if you do some searching online.
