what are the drawbacks if any for the LP2, and what is so important about the cv/outs on the few that offer it like the Sweetwater cv version? . For some isn’t cv/gate ins enoupgh? Are cv outs for controlling other synths or are they for patching back into this synth?

Wel the drawbacks depend on what you expect. I mean if you expect a three oscillators synth with high-pass filter, well the drawbacks are obvious 
Sounds sarcastic but I don’t want to look mean, eh?
CV-outs -which I (still) don’t own- are for patching to what you want, being others synths, Mooger Froogers, or back tho the LP, why not. I’m even planning one day to get this option mounted and using with some Electro-Harmonix pedals featuring expression pedals inputs.
Last but not least, best piece of advice: if you can, just try the gear. You may love the LP once your hands have wandered upon it for half an hour
