I have a LP Stage 2 that didn’t take well to the Firmware update. I wonder if somebody could confirm the behavior and the repair procedure.
- All text apart from the Master Menu displays lines like " Q¨ ¨n# d4" .
- Playing the keys emits high pitch sounds.
- The sound still changes when you tweak some parameters, though you get random results.
- It’ll still respond to Sysex input, but at the end you get an update failed line.
- After managing to wipe the firmware to the point where it just booted and asked to send a firmware, it accepted the 3.1 firmware.
Now I’m back to where I started. I get the same kind of messed up behavior after removing and reinstalling the firmware.
Is it now technically bricked? As in, the only way to fix it is with a Silabs USB Debug Adapter.
Or is it just an issue of finding the right speed to send the Sysex?
Other issues I’ve seen where people call it bricked, mention the screen being blank. Mine isn’t.
So I felt I should ask before I open the thing and potentially do more damage.
The Moog Update readme is clear that something may go wrong. But the troubleshooting section is not extensive enough and doesn’t cover my specific issue. I’m not sure how many different kinds of update issues there are.
Cheers,
- Bjorn
