Does the Little Phatty have a tone that sounds like the one in Warp from Bloody Beetroots (0:25)?
I wanna buy a Little Phatty but I don’t know the various tones it can play.
I checked it out on youtube and I think you can get that type of sound. It is a pretty versatile synth.
SO LOVELY SONG!

Since the video features a LP I would geuss yes

but maybe its all just for flash
Nothing says ‘baller’ like a $1,300 keyboard. ![]()
I think they really use the LP → Look at their MySpace Photos. The Play it. Could you try to create the Sound and send me the settings?
If you really want something you should go and get it. You shouldn’t waste time asking if it’s right for you. You will never truly know if you love something untill you have it, transversely you will never truly appreciate something untill it is gone.
is this the same sound your refering too ?

if so Bloody Beetroots didn’t play that sound they sampled it off a 1991 record called Dominator
yeah it is! cool! but how did they change the pitch?
Theres a thousand plugins outhere to change and manipulate pitch your DAW is also shipped with pitch manipulating plugins , the one thing i can guarantee is the guy in the bettroot video is just posing with the little phatty and the sound your hearing was not performed on a little phatty but is sampled from the 1991 record Dominator.
And in turn, Dominator got that sound using a factory preset from the Roland alpha-Juno synthesizer (or MKS-50 rackmount); a preset called “What The?” (click to listen) .
This sound was made famous by “Dominator” but I think it was used before this by Joey Beltram on the track “Mentasm.” Both tracks are from 1991; I don’t know which really came first.
This rather famous sound is commonly known as a “hoover.” I’ve made a nice hoover sound on the Voyager, but it’s tricky to do on the Little Phatty without adding some external modulation. You could probably do it pretty well with a Phatty + MP-201, though… ![]()

thank you for the information!
is there a great difference between the voyager old school and the new one?
i’m now sure that i’ll buy a moog synth but maybe the voyager old school, not the lp
THeres no real difference in the sound of an Old School. There are major differences in the modulation routings available.
Voyager offers patch memory and software routings and Programable voltage sources and destinations and the abillity to change the pole settings for the filters.
Old School has no Midi Implementation whatsoever and has its unique modulation routings to accomodate.
Some say that because the Old School has no “Digital Brain” then the Oscillators sounds are more pure. This could be debatable but Im not sure ifny side by side comparisions have been done yet.
What I mean by a digital brain is that there is some amount of digital control over the voltages that are going from point a to b. For instance, some users have noticed that when making the most minor of adjustments of the Osc frequency or Filter cutoff, the Voyager doesn’t respond until the operating system reckognizes the knobs have turned, then theres a “jump” I haven’t quite noticed this as mine are sensitive and Im sure this effect will vary from instrument to instrument. When doing the same movements on an Old School, there is an instantaneous result because there is no digital intervace between the knob and the voltage sent.
Don’t mistake this as the Voyager is not purely analogue.
These are essentially the main differences as far as the sound engine goes. Physically, there is no touch surface. Other than what I have described, the Voyager is capable of a lot more than the old school because you can do pot mapping and things like that. You can also save your presets or have te computer control it in realtime during a performance. You can even have midi control over lights and video imagery.
So really it just depends on whether or not you want midi or 896 presets to fill with your original programming. And if you want the touch surface.

i dont know how i should make the decision between the LP and the voyager ^^
All I know is bloody beetroots use a ton of Moog. Between a LP and Voyager is really easy. If you got the money get the V, if you dont or dont wanna pay that much more, get the LP.
The Voyager has more options and 1 more OSC. Try to think wether its worth double the price of the LP for you. I have a LP and it continues to blow me away everyday.
Hard to tell if the beetroots did use the LP. Moog isn’t even switched on in the vid lol. You’d actually be able to coax much better than a generic hoover out of the LP. So much in fact you will never need to be like TBB and sample the driving force of your tune.
If I was you I would go for a LP AND Sherman Filter Bank. You’ll be busting filthy basslines in no time.
