Hi guys,

I am looking to purchase the upcoming Stage edition. I wanted to ask all you LP users about the sound engine. I plan to use it for bass and leads in my studio.

When playing bass, does the sound thin out when playing the same key in a cycle, and then go back to full fatness. I have experienced the same thing when playing softsynths or when i play some bass patches on my Andromed A6. When you play the same key, sometimes the first strike plays the sound with full bottom end, and when you play the key straight after the first strike, it thins out slightly, until the third strike.

Is this what analog is about, moving oscilators, etc?

Cheers.

Hello,

When two sound sources produce the same note in the same octave range with one slightly detuned, the expansion/contraction you hear is phasing (or beating) between the oscillators. It gets faster as the detuning is increased, slower, the closer together the frequencies are.
This is actually normal with any synth, as its a freq function and not something wrong with the instrument you’re playing.
Take the plunge.

Lawrence

single-oscillator bass patches can be extremely fat and do not have this phasing problem. Give it a try!

(actually several of the bass patches on the LP stage are already 1-oscillator patches).

Thanks for your help guys.
