Little Phatty Editions

Will there be other editions of Little Phatty?
As In the Voyager.

What will they be?
My - First - Moog Edition

Hello Kitty Little Phatty for the girls

Circuit Benders Edition In Kit form
with no instructions

Tub o’ Lard
Rack edition

How much of a price drop will each be?

Moog says the tribute will ship at the end of May.
A second edition, the “Stage,” will have plastic sides and a different color scheme to the LEDs.
The best part is that Moog is hoping to get the price down much closer to a street price of US$1,000.
So for roughly 1500
You could have a stage edition and a control processor to soup up the stage .
Rip off the plastic sides and make your own from your choice of materials.

I 'd love to see keith emerson smash one of these live .

Plastic sides… Oh dear. Hang on a mo… Are we seriously expected to believe that two small pieces of wood add $475.00 to the price? Sounds a bit ‘implausable’ to me.

True, you’d have to start removing components from the LP to get it down to that price.

Two small pieces of wood
Two facsimilies of Bobs Signature
Blue lighted buttons and wheels
which brings to mind :
will the stage edition even have lighted wheels

Either that, or the Tribute is a little overpriced, Boeing…

The wood is a definite factor in price. I know it does not seem that way, and defitiely not $500.00 more in factoring. But you have to take into consideration that the wood they use cost at least 1000% (10x) of the price of the plastic. The inital cost to make the “mold” for the plastic is very pricey ( maybe even as much as 5 - 15 grand !), but then they can pop out those things for less than a a few bucks each probably, as where the wood prices ARE going up, and the time to craft the wood (highly payed skilled laborers , these wood workers are) and then price goes up. How long would it take you to make those wood panels perfectly, how many could you do in one day, and how much do you think your hard work would be worth ?

Moog is also taking into consideration that these things are gonna sell like hot cakes and they would end up paying a lot of money over time to keep the wood panels, with how much goes into each one. What if a year from now the price of the wood doubles? Should they up the price of the LP ? No way.. By offering 1200 units with wood panels, they can allocate the wood at a price they are certain of. Which enables them to actually figure out the MSRP…

I’m sure the 1200 are already close to gone. With dealers and artists(like me:)) buying them up. With enough demand they can easily release another “special edition” with wood. Or maybe even order wood panel “upgrades” (similar to the back lit upgrade for original performer MMV) in a variety of stains.. Then you could custom order it and the wood shop could make it to order because the money would already be in Moogs pocket, so to speak.

Time will tell…

This thing is just begging to be a tabletop or rack module…losing the keyboard would certainly bring the price down…!

Listen, I need wood. (no viagra spam, please)

Here’s what I’d love to see… The ‘stage’ edition with WOOD sides (and if not, and optional upgrade… or perhaps a sold-seperately wood sides kit for like $150 bucks or something). I’d lose the Bob signature on the back, have the back be black instead of that cream color, with the traditional moog logo or even better yet… JUST that cool circle logo (m). I could live with the ‘little phatty’ name on the back if they kept the same small font used on the front. I’m sure none of this will go my way, but those are my thoughts. I basically want it to look like the Prodigy. haha

i agree. maybe it could initially be sold with exchangable side panels that you could replace later with wooden ones when you have the money to spend.
would be really nice if it would keep the blue lights though. what will the lights be like on the stage edition? i wonder.

My friend at Messe says they’re going to make a “Stage” edition with plastic side panels and amber lights for $999 street price.

amber lights! is that true? like the ones on the voyager electric blue that isn’t blue?

that’s cool, i think i’m almost willing to put up with the plastic for that, and the lower price
