I saw a good youtube video from MoogMusic the other day demonstrating a very nice Filter CV modulation technique and have been trying to recreate the same scenario with my equipment.
I am trying to recreate this with a Little Phatty and an old Electrix Filter Factory. I have a drum machine playing an audio sequence through the Filter Factory and I have the 1/4 in. CV OUT of the Filter Factory connected to the Filter CV Input of my Little Phatty. Audio from the Little Phatty is routed directly into a mixer, while audio from the drum machine is routed through the Filter Factory. The only connection the Little Phatty and the Filter Factory share is the CV 1/4 in. plug. Audio from the Little Phatty is not responding to the CV input from the Filter Factory… and I’m not sure what to try next.
This is my first time at attempting to utilize the Control Voltage Inputs on the Little Phatty and so far I’m stumped. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
What kind of CV out is the filter factory creating? Is it an audio envelope, gate, or what? To get what was in the video, it has to be the envelope. Also, what voltage is the CV from the Filter Factory?
Are you sure that the Filter Factory is generating a CV? I see that it has a CV in, but does it have a CV out?
I actually used this technique on a recording session on Saturday. I had a drum loop running into my Low Pass Filter with the Envelop CV out running into my Little Phatty. Worked great.
